Leading with Diversity and Inclusion: Element Honoured by Report on Business Magazine
April 02, 2024
For the first time, Element Fleet Management has been recognized in the Globe and Mail’s annual Report on Business Magazine’s Women Lead Here benchmark of executive gender diversity.
When considering standards for corporate excellence as it relates to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging, we envision – and are driving – a future where everyone has an opportunity to succeed, regardless of gender.
Beyond the Numbers – Embracing Equity, Inclusion and Belonging
For Element, a commitment to fostering a culture that values diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging is foundational to who we are and is reflected in our policies and practices. We've moved beyond symbolic gestures to establish a structured approach that empowers employees at every level.
Tangible Progress Through Representation
With a workforce that's more than 50 per cent women, Element's commitment to enabling a diverse, inclusive environment is making tangible inroads:
-
Our Board of Directors is made up of 60 per cent women;
-
Our senior leadership includes over 30 per cent women;
-
Over the last year, women accounted for over half of the internal promotions, reinforcing our commitment to developing and advancing from within.
This progress goes beyond representation; it's about creating a framework where all employees, regardless of gender, are seen, heard, and given an opportunity to succeed.
Investing in Growth & Development – Ensuring Supportive Spaces for Women
Empowering our employees requires ongoing support, as well as creating pathways for recognition and career progression. Our commitment extends to beyond organizational structure, with initiatives like our Women’s Business Resource Group (BRG) and elevateHer Intersection Diversity Network Stream. These are more than forums; they're spaces for growth, mentorship, and professional development.
The Globe and Mail’s 2024 Report on Business magazine’s 2024 Women Lead Here List
The Women Lead Here benchmark was established in 2020 by the Report on Business magazine, and it evaluates the largest Canadian corporations with the highest degree of gender diversity among executive ranks. This year, Report on Business magazine identified 97 out of over 500 major Canadian companies for their executive gender diversity, with Element being named among them.
A Vision Forward - Keeping the Momentum
While Element’s recognition in the 2024 Women Lead Here list is a welcome milestone, we know there is more work to be done. We’re committed to aiming higher and doing better, continuing to challenge ourselves to set new standards for diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging.
