Reflecting on 30 years of the Element-Arval Global Alliance
June 05, 2025

"Dynamic, resilient, and built on trust." These are the words Jordan Henry, Global Alliance Director for Element, uses when describing the Element-Arval Global Alliance (EAGA).
Established as a strategic partnership between Element Fleet Management and Arval, the Alliance connects resources and knowledge across 55 countries. Its purpose is straightforward but ambitious—to harmonize global fleet strategies while addressing the diverse and localized needs of its clients. By bridging the gap between regional intricacies and global ambitions, the Alliance has set a benchmark for operational efficiency, sustainability in fleet management, and the integration of connected technology.
We sat down with Jordan Henry, Global Alliance Director of Element to reflect on the Alliance's storied past, its achievements, and what the future holds.
What makes the Element-Arval Global Alliance truly unique?
JH: Element-Arval Global Alliance is, first and foremost, about trust and communication. We are a combination of industry leading experts, and that’s what makes it special—we do what we do because it serves our clients better.
Our ability to harmonize these strategies empowers clients to address global challenges while tailoring solutions locally. Clients know they’re not just receiving a service; they’re building a partnership that evolves with their needs.
What are some standout milestones from the alliance’s 30-year history?
JH: One of my most memorable experiences began over a decade ago, when a large global client approached us with a focus on addressing local market challenges individually. Fast forward to the present, that same client has now adopted a global-first strategy, informed at the macro level while aligning local policy and actions accordingly. Witnessing this transition has been immensely rewarding, as it embodies how our alliance empowers clients with flexible, globally synchronized solutions in fleet management.
Another milestone is our work on the annual Global Fleet and Mobility Barometer. Initially launched by Arval many years ago, the study gained a new dimension when Element began participating with our five countries. The Barometer now delivers industry-leading insights in every region of the world. Today, it’s considered one of the most comprehensive studies in the fleet industry. It’s amazing to see how every year the partnership behind the barometer strengthens, resulting in a meaningful guide for clients and industry leaders.
What lessons has the Element-Arval Global Alliance taught you over the years?
JH: I’ve come to realize that the foundation of any strong partnership is built on active listening and mutual respect. Representing 55 countries, clients of the Alliance experience unique market conditions, regulations, and customs. By listening to one another, we’ve learned to adapt and connect solutions that genuinely work across diverse regions.
Adaptability is another critical lesson. The fleet industry has undergone massive changes, from the rise of electric vehicles to the emphasis on sustainability in fleet management. Through it all, we better anticipate client pain points, and comprehensive global recommendations have been our distinguishing factor.
Have there been challenges that shaped the direction of the alliance?
JH: Absolutely. Like any successful partnership, ours hasn’t been without its challenges. The varying political and economic climates worldwide have tested our resolve. For example, striking a balance between European emissions regulations and differing policies in North America has been tricky at times. Yet, these challenges have become opportunities to leverage our combined expertise and creativity, enabling us to deliver flexible recommendations for clients.
On a more personal note, this partnership has taught me broader empathy. Meeting colleagues from across the globe, whether from Japan or France, has helped me better understand the challenges others face. For example, during the Arval Cab event, a partner shared how geopolitical tensions impacted even their flight routes, making the trip take nearly 16 hours. Insights like these have reinforced the human side of global collaboration, allowing us to grow not just as professionals but as individuals.
What role has leadership played in driving the success of the alliance?
JH: Leadership has been the constant of EAGA’s success. Our Chief Commercial Officer, David Madrigal, and his counterpart at Arval, Bart Beckers, have been instrumental in guiding the partnership (Executive Element-Arval Global Alliance Board). In addition to David and Bart, each member of the Alliance must also appoint a leader. The cross-functional commitment to fostering connections and driving innovation sets the tone for all members. Together, we are focused on our mission to provide client-centric global fleet strategies that deliver real-world impact.
What excites you most about the future of the Element-Arval Global Alliance ?
JH: Looking ahead, I’m excited to see how we continue growing together, shaping the future of fleet and mobility solutions. The alliance offers us a unique glimpse into what’s next—from changing regulations to emerging sustainability initiatives. I’m particularly enthusiastic about the growing emphasis on mobility solutions and data-driven decision-making.
For example, mobility as a service (MaaS) and the integration of connected technology present incredible opportunities. Imagine a future where global fleet strategies seamlessly blend electric vehicles, public transit, and car-sharing platforms. Our progressive differentiator of our clients’ MaaS solutions is a data-driven SaaS backbone. It’s a future we’re actively working on, leveraging the insights and expertise we’ve gained over the last 30 years.
Finally, what makes this partnership stand out for you personally?
JH: For me, it’s the people. This isn’t just a partnership; it’s a community. Across countries and cultures, the team genuinely cares about one another, which creates an environment where collaboration thrives. We’re not just solving fleet challenges; we’re sharing experiences, building trust, and creating deep, lasting connections. Working with this group never feels like a job, and I truly value the moments we’ve shared celebrating the Alliance’s achievements together.
Looking back, moving forward
Three decades of partnership is no small feat, but the story of the Element-Arval Global Alliance is more than just a timeline of accomplishments. It’s a lesson in how trust, adaptability, and a shared vision can create something truly impactful.
As the Alliance moves into the future, its impact is set to grow even further, spearheading advancements in sustainability, technology, and client-centric solutions. With a strong foundation and a focus on forward-thinking leadership, the next decade promises to be just as transformational as the last 30 years.
